John,
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed fishing with my new "Crick Stick" rod. I can't believe a rod can be that sensitive and still handle anything in the river.. I can't wait to try it out again. Thanks for a great product. Next time I'm home we will go wet a line somewhere.
Thanks again,

John,
I would like to thank you and the members of your pro-staff for taking the time to answer my questions and aiding in my selection of a JB rod while at the Bass Expo show in Maryland. Your rods caught my attention the opening day of the show due to their beautiful finish and componets including braid friendly nitride guides, high quality custom colored guide wraps, wooden reel seats, and the spiral wrap. After picking up and testing dozens of rods with you on sensitivity, actions, and durability which was tested by taking a steel file and grinding through the nitride guide ring without any damage, I was convinced. I then decided that before the show ended I had to purchase at least one. With a thin wallet in hand and motor work needed before my first tournament of 2005 in March, I decided to attempt to sell five of my starters to friends attending and working the show including a brand new Loomis IMX. I sold four on Saturday in a matter of hours and walked back to the JB stand with a grin. I chose the 7' Riggin' with the multi-colored nitride guides, blue verigated colored wraps, wooden reel seat, and split handle. This rod is a work of art, and its action is extremely versitile. I will use it primarily for 1/2oz to 3/4oz carolina rigs but 1/8oz to 3/4 texas rigs, small jigs, and large spinnerbaits and buzzbaits would work just as well with it. I've decided to make a total switch to JB's, so I better get going and attempt to sell more of my rods over the net. Thank you for your time, input, professionalism, and most importantly your ability to make such a beautiful rod at a reasonable price.

Hey J.B!
You Make A Super Rod! Having fished the James River in Richmond, Virginia - The Falls Of The James - since 1974, I had been seeking a long-distance rod for catching American and Hickory Shad and Striped Bass. Most folks here use either fully-geared heavy 10 to 12 foot surf rods or small 6 to 7 foot rods for the smaller fish of Summer. When doing serious fishing in white to fast water, one needs a light but long and powerful rod that is senstitive. Your rod fits the bill 100%! Simply put, one needs a sensitive rod which can feel the strike, plus the power to hook and land 30 to 40 pound Stripers or 10 to 12 pound American Shad in water moving at over 30 MPH! The Fall Line is right in Downtown Richmond and in Spring the water is really fast!
Your all wood reel seat to rod connection is vital in sensing the "light tap" which is the strike of shad! Not all Stripers hit hard either! The 8'6" graphite power is an absolute necessity to bring those babies in! You got leverage! Otherwise, they are gone! No need for those heavy lines, as 8-pound test is the highest I use and I can use a light line because of The J.B. Custom Rod!
Anybody can really say, for sure: "If You Ain't Got No J.B. Rod, You Ain't Got No Rod!"
Best To You!

JB,
I wanted to let you know that I took the 5'11" 2 piece rod you finished for me and got success in the shallows around Fernandina Beach, Florida 2 days after I picked up the rod. Multiple puppy drum (9"-24") were caught and released while kayak fishing. One pesky sand shark also stole some shrimp. The rod worked out event better than I had hoped! The Kayak was rented from www.KayakAmelia.com . When I handed the rod to several other people on the trip, they all spoke that it felt alive in their hands compared to a similar rod and reel combination from a major fishing retailer. I can't thank you enough for working with me on the past 2 custom rods and have my eye on several more rods.
Thank you, John Martin

Hi John,
Russ Braswell here, I recently purchased 2 custom rods and reels from you at the Bass and Saltwater Expo in Raleigh. I gotta tell ya these are the finest rods I have ever owned. I went striper fishing on Kerr Lake with a buddy of mine who is a professed expert on fishing and fishing gear. When he saw your rods and reels he wanted to know where I got them. He asked me how much they cost and a bunch of other questions, I was grinning ear to ear. Later that day I caught a 22 lb striper 34 inches long, what a fight. I was using a bucktail, red and white and the rod I had bought from you got a real work out. You are truly a master craftsman I could tell I had quality in my hands and I could feel everything that fish was doing. I especially appreciated the spiral wrap as things got testy and that fish was a real fighter. I look forward to many years of enjoyment from your efforts and the product you created. Just wanted to say Hello and I hope to see you someday when I get a chance at your shop.
Thanks again, Russ
